A good cortado and a space with personality—that’s what stayed with me after visiting Ground Central in Hell’s Kitchen. The nods to the neighborhood’s famous people and characters gave me something to take in beyond the coffee counter.
The cortado
The cortado was good: well balanced and full of flavor. It had the balance I look for, with the coffee coming through and the milk rounding it out. A small cup that got to the point, and one I enjoyed.
Inside the shop

I liked the way the space acknowledged Hell’s Kitchen through its famous faces and characters. Those details gave the visit a sense of place. The nook in the back was another highlight—a seating area I appreciated and a reason to settle in rather than just grab a cup and leave.
Working here: Wi-Fi, outlets & laptop space
I liked the back seating nook, but I haven’t confirmed the Wi-Fi, outlet availability, or laptop policy. Those details still need a closer look before I can recommend it for a work session.
Beyond the coffee
This visit was about the cortado and the atmosphere. I haven’t reviewed the food, other beverages, or apparel and merchandise yet.
Mr. Cortado’s take
Ground Central delivered on the two things that stood out to me: a flavorful, balanced cortado and a space worth spending time in. The Hell’s Kitchen references and the nook in back made this more than a quick coffee stop.
